The Anambra State Police Command have arrested two suspected fraudsters for duping a man the sum of N1.4 million naira in Onitsha. HGS Media Plus reports.
The two suspects, Dr Madu Ifeanyi aged 50 and Mr Linus Onyekwere aged 60 are native of Ugonakpanpa, in Onitsha.
HGS Media Plus gathered that the suspects defrauded one Mr Emmanuel Anamene of Odakpu the sum of N1.4 million after pretending to have a common wealth loaning program were a person pays N500,000 and get 1 million naira as interest in one month.
CSP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident said that the suspects claimed to have a contracts they executed with “former President GoodLuck Jonathan” and the CBN requested them to pay 20 Million Naira before the contract money will be paid to them.
They told the victim to bring another sum of 500,000 as others have done to enable them raise the 20Million needed by CBN to enable them get the money from the Apex bank.
However, the victim alleged that he has given the suspect the sum of N1.4 million since September 2020 and has not received any interest or the initial money he invested.
He added that he has been calling the suspects, but they refused to pick his call before they were arrested.
