One Lateef Saheed, have been arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly pushing his landlady during an argument on Feburary 24th in their compound at Apata street in palmgrove area of Shomolu, Lagos State.
Apparently, the compound had been attacked by armed robbers on several occasions. To stop the attacks, Olayemi called a meeting of the tenants where it was agreed that she would be in charge of locking and opening the building’s main entrance door at night and morning.

They also agreed on the time to open and shut the gate at the meeting as 5:30am and 11pm respectively.
Lateef was said to be ready for work on the day of the incident before the agreed time and ran out of patience when efforts to get the landlady including banging her door to open the main entrance proved abortive.
Lateef who was to leave for work at 5am, broke the main entrance door when the landlady ignored his call. The deceased landlady rushed out in anger and held Lateef by the shirt, trying to stop him from going out.
She vowed to arrest him by men of the Pedro police station for breaking her door. For him to free himself from her grip, Lateef pushed her to the ground and drove off.
Soon after she was pushed to the ground, Olayemi became unconscious and was rushed to the Shomolu General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
Lateef was said not to have returned home the day of the incident. The police invited his wife to produce him and he showed up the following day and was arrested.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, said an investigation is ongoing into the matter.
